Enlist
Membership in Battery B is open to those with or without Civil War Ancestors. Members who wish to do so, may participate in battle re-enactments, but do not have to portray a batteryman. There are some other things that one can do with the Battery, including portraying a hospital steward, a doctor, or a musician, etc. What the unit looks for in a member is a strong desire to learn and understand the Civil War history and the life of the common soldier. Members do not have to attend every event to remain a member. We participate in parades, honor guards, dedications, anniversaries, or anything which honors and acknowledges our American Hertitage.
Young Members
You must be fourteen to fire a musket or work the cannons. Younger members may be admitted on an individual basis in non-firing capacities (i.e. musician).
Dues
Annual dues are $25, which cover mailings, registration fees and powder.
Equipment
A member does not have to get all the equipment immediately. It takes most people about a year to gather everything together.
Meetings
Battery B meets every third Monday evening, from 7 to 8 pm at the
Boalsburg Fire Hall. Battery events, planning and other related
information is discussed.
Women
Women may join and participate; but for the sake of authenticity, they may not portray batterymen. They may portray 19th Century women such as nurses, vivandiers, wives, etc.
